Asylum and humanitarian protection

Services we provide:

Asylum claims and tribunal appeals

We advise on asylum and humanitarian protection claims and provide representation in eligible immigration and asylum tribunal appeals, including complex matters, subject to individual assessment and our authorisation. We also assist with notifying the Home Office of changes of address or circumstances. The decision and procedural position determine the available remedy and deadline.

Read the official immigration and asylum appeal guidance.

Immigration bail, reporting and permission to work

We assist with immigration bail applications and requests to vary bail or reporting conditions through the appropriate Home Office or tribunal procedure. Existing conditions must be followed until changed. Immigration bail does not itself grant permission to stay or work.

Permission to work while an asylum claim or qualifying further submissions are pending requires a separate eligibility assessment. It is not automatic and is subject to the applicable employment restrictions. Varying bail conditions does not itself grant work permission.

Children born in the UK

We assess eligible applications for permission to stay in line with a parent who has refugee status or humanitarian protection. Permission in line with a parent is distinct from recognition of a child’s own protection needs. Birth in the UK alone does not automatically confer British citizenship; nationality must be assessed separately.

Read the Home Office guidance on UK-born children. You may qualify for legal aid for an asylum matter, depending on the applicable criteria.
